கடந்த 2009ஆம் ஆண்டு சட்ட விரோதமாக மான்சி என்ற பெண்ணை படுக்கையறை வரை உளவு பார்த்த விவகாரத்தில் முன்னாள் வெளியுறவுத்துறை அமைச்சர் அமித் ஷா ஈடுபட்ட  செய்தி சில மாதங்களுக்கு முன் வெளியாகி பரபரப்பை ஏற்படுத்தியது.அவர் யாருக்காக உளவு பார்த்தார்???

அவரது தொலைபேசி உரையாடல்களில் "சாஹேப்" என்று அடிக்கடி குறிப்பிடுகிறார்.அந்த "சாஹேப்"க்காக அல்லது அந்த சாஹேபின் கட்டளையின் பேரில் தான் இந்த உளவு வேலையை அவர் மேற்கொண்டிருப்பார் என்பது அந்த தொலைபேசி உரையாடல்களின் மூலம் தெளிவாகிறது.

ஆனால் வெளியாகியுள்ள 267 தொலைபேசி உரையாடல்களைக் கேட்கும் போது,ஒரு பெண்ணின் பாதுகாப்பை உறுதி செய்வதற்காக பின்தொடர்வது போல் அல்லாமல் அந்தப் பெண் மூலம் வேறு ஏதோ ஒன்று நடந்து விடாமல் தடுக்க எடுக்கப்பட்ட முயற்சிகள் போல உள்ளது.

தெலுங்கானாவின் உணவுப் பழக்கவழக்கங்கள், பண்டிகைகள், சடங்குகள் வேறாக இருந்தன மேலும்  புறக்கணிப்பு இப்படி ஆந்திராவிலிருந்து வெளியேற அவகளுக்கு பல்வேறு நியாயமான காரணங்கள் இருந்தன.இப்போது தெலுங்கானா உருவாதற்கான மசோதா நிறைவேறியுள்ளது அவர்களின்  தொடர் போராட்டங்களே காரணம்.

இந்த இரு போராட்டங்களும்  முடிவுக்கு வந்துவிட்டதாக கூறமுடியாது.அவர்களுக்கு முழு வெற்றி கிட்டிவிட்டதாகக் கூற முடியாது.ஆனால் அவர்களது போராட்டத்தில்  இது ஒரு இமாலய நகர்வு.தங்களது வெற்றிப்படிக்கட்டில் அவர்கள் முன்னேறுவதற்கான உத்வேகத்தை இது கொடுக்கும்.இன்னும் பல தடைகள் அவர்களுக்கு காத்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறது.ஆனால் இதே முனைப்போடு ஒன்றிணைந்து போராடினால் வெற்றி வெகு தூரமில்லை.

SANCTITY THY NAME!

        Man’s thoughts dwindle between the extremes; the existence and non existence of GOD. Most of us have a strong belief in the super power yet; the rest may contradict or remain neutral with the idea. Nevertheless the places of worship attract people of all the possible faith exisitng and bring oneness among different people who are varied in religion, caste, creed or profession. It brings together the rich, the poor, the worthy, unworthy, everyone under one roof and belief. Each one have their own way of connecting with the Divine. Some blindly worship without even giving a thought of whether they like to do it or not. They keep requesting the Almighty to make life easier. To them, God is someone who resets life while in trouble. Praying becomes a part of routine for such people. While some sincerely believe in god, worship and stick to the religious rituals with utmost sincerity. Very few take themselves beyond religion and follow tradition and relish the spiritual progress.

            Quite different from all these categories are the crème of people who treat god like their best friend and I am one among them. My favorite god is Devi. Whatever happens in my day to day life I will share it with her, be it  happy ones, extremely sad or even when I am excited or overwhelmed I will let out all my emotions  only  to my soul mate Devi. I have asked her to give my favorite questions in the exam which I want  write! 

The one place which is very close my heart is Periya paalayathu amman temple in Royapettah. Right from the foetus stage, in my mother’s womb, I have been going to that temple. It makes me nostalgic every time I stand before her in that temple. My grandmother being a devotee of the main deity Devi of that temple, she made me and my sister to say only that Devi’s name when she first taught us to pray. Till date, it is her name we say as a reflex even when the ear splitting thunder strikes! That’s the kind of bond I have with my Devi.

            Of late there have been many questions in my mind about my connection with the supreme power. Not knowing how and where to start, I just joined a small pilgrimage trip where I got the opportunity to visit some of the best temples in and around Chennai city. In all the temples I visited it was the Devi, the feminine energy which pulled me strongly towards her. Vadiudai amman in Arulmigu thyagaraja swamy thiru kovil at Thiruvottriyu, Thiru udai amman at Mellore and Kodi idai amman temple at Thirumullaivoyal.

            Whether one believes in god or not, our temples are wonderful work of art and culture. The sheer beauty strewn all over the temple walls which narrates the story of the temple’s main deity. Everything about our South Indian temples are beautiful, the crimson kum kum, water splashed on the vast temple flooring, just a single lit wick clearing the darkness of the shrine and the grey soot climbing up the wall, the smell of the Prasad, ash and what not? 

            Going to temple with family itself is an enjoyable experience. I am torn between extremes, faith, belief, beauty, family time, hot sweet pongal! Oh my god! What am I going to temple for? Right now I go for all of these. *winks* .Here I stand, trying to define spiritual trips with a confused mind.

            Travel isn’t just about seeing new places. It is a journey which helps you discover a little more about yourself. Maybe be not a flight trip , maybe not a train trip, maybe not a million kilometers away.. Travel is just about leaving your usual self behind in your closet and barging into the big world trying to find the different dimensions of your personality. 

            So, get up! Just walk out! And make your teeny tiny trip to the unstirred area of your neighborhood.. whether a temple or a pond or a park or even a super market. Why miss the opportunity to know yourself a little better than yesterday.

AUTO EXPO 2014 LAUNCHES - BAJAJ PULSAR 400CS

The Pulsar 400 SS launched by Bajaj  at this year’s auto expo show was not a lone wolf. It was followed by another surprise launch which was apparently the 400SS’s stripped off version and it was christened with the name 400 CS –  Cruiser Sport. Unlike the 400SS, this bike is a proper street-fighter that definitely looks the part. It borrows the 375 cc single cylinder engine from the KTM Duke 390 and power outputs are rumored to be around 43 ps region. Bajaj has not revealed any more engine specifications, following the same “close to the chest” strategy that it followed in the case of the 400SS.

            As for the looks part, this is a total jaw-dropper from the Bajaj design house. Though the bike is not that aggressively designed, it has managed to wow auto journalists and enthusiasts from all over the world.  This was even quoted as the single most awaited Indian launch of this year. Both the bikes, 400 SS and CS are expected to hit the roads by 2015.  The bike is a smashingly designed machine from Bajaj. They have taken their design trends a step higher, making the bike pakka premium class. Now let’s take a look at the features.

·         The bike is a street fighter version. So it does not sport a fairing. The model showcased at the auto expo was so high in fit and finish, indicating that it is almost production-ready.

·         The main attraction in the bike is its headlamp assembly, which contains multiple 2 central HID elements and 6 LED elements on the side. It also features fang like auxiliary lights. This entire unit renders a futuristic front look to the face of the bike.

·         There are no clip-on handlebars, unlike all other current Bajaj motorcycles.

·         The bike features USD (Up Side Down) front forks, a convention borrowed from is elder sibling, the 390 Duke.

·         The instrument console is of superbike level looks, reminiscent of the Ducati range. It is an all-digital one, divided into two parts, one above the handlebars that has the cascading style rev counter (with a blue back light – very TRON like), and a secondary smaller one over the fuel tank that indicates the gear number and speed. (Bajaj Avenger, anybody?)

·         ABS is available and the bike sports single disc assemblies at the front and rear.

·         The rivets around the engine casing add to the street fighter appeal.

·         The bike sits on an aluminum perimeter frame. The swing arm is angled and styled neatly – a commendable effort; looks great on the bike.

·         The seat is a single unit, like the one found on a stock Pulsar 150, but a tad stepped high towards the rear.

·         Split grab rails are found flanking the high rear seat.

·         The exhaust looks stubby, similar to the Pulsar 400SS.

·         The 10 spoke alloys look sporty.

·         The tail lamp is nowhere close to the one on Pulsar 400SS, but looks more like a progression to the current pulsar models. It is very conservative in terms of styling.

·         The fender extends over the rear tyre, (MRF Revz C1) adding to the appeal of the bike.

What Bajaj have here is a very neatly styled motorcycle that is targeted on the premium customers. Bajaj have done a great job with the design part. The bike has so many features that elevate its premium class. Taking into consideration the following that the Bajaj brand has among the youth, the Pulsar CS400 would be s sure-shot hit. Not many brands have bold decision making abilities like Bajaj does and boy does Bajaj get rewarded for their attempts. This bike here, will be the first choice of customers who are looking for something that falls in the 390’s territory. The Pulsar 400CS would be a worthy rival to the 390, just like the rivalry still exists between the 200ns and D200. It would be a delight to watch these brilliant motorcycles battling for supremacy on our very own Indian roads. What’s more interesting is that, all these bikes share a common Indian DNA, which is very heart-warming. 

The days when we had to look at foreign manufacturers with a ray of hope in our eyes and heart that they would launch their premium motorcycles in India are slowly starting to fade off. Bajaj’s progress shouts out loud to the automotive industry that we Indians are no less. Let us just hope that this progress further results in more powerful machines leveling their foreign counterparts. Go Bajaj!!!
