WOMEN RECORDS



The first ever women’s test match was played between Australia and England at Brisbane in December 1934. Since then there has been vast advancement in the game though it has never been in the limelight as the Men’s game. Since this week is world’s women’s day, here are some interesting stats from the Women’s Cricket Side.

1.MICHELLE GOSZKO of Australia is the first and only batsman to score a double hundred on her debut test against England at Shenley in 2001. Her 204 came from 345 balls with 24 boundaries in them.

2.KIRAN MAQSOOD BALUCHof Pakistan holds the record of scoring the highest ever score in an individual innings in women’s cricket. She scored 242 against West Indies at Karachi in 2004. It included 38 boundaries and came from 488 balls in 584 minutes.

3. ENID BAKEWELL of England holds the record of scoring the highest percentage of runs in a completed innings for a team. She scored 112* out of the 164 runs scored by her team against West Indies at Edgbaston in 1979. That is makes 68.29% of the runs scored by her team. Next in the list is SHANTHA RANGASWAMY of India who scored 108 of the 177 runs (61.01%) against New Zealand at Dunedin in 1977.

4. NETTA RHEINBERG of England is the first woman cricketer who was out on a pair on debut against Australia in 1949 at Adelaide. 

5. JAN BRITTIN of England holds the record of scoring the most number of half – centuries in Women’s Cricket. She has 16 scores of 50+ to her credit out of which 5 were centuries.

6. SHAIZA KHAN of Pakistan has taken 13 wickets in a match which is the highest by a captain in a test match. She took 13/226 against West Indies at Karachi in 2004. This is also the best figure in a match in Women’s Cricket.

7. MYRTLE MACLAGAN of England holds the best figure in an innings on debut. She took 7/10 in 17 overs that had 11 maidens in them against Australia in the first ever Women’s Cricket Test Match.

8. RENE FARRELL of Australia is the only woman cricketer to have taken a hat – trick in women’s test cricket. She achieved the feat against England at Sydney in 2011.

9. CHRISTINA MATTHEWS of Australia has the most dismissals by a Woman Wicket Keeper. She has 58 dismissals that include 46 catches and 12 stumpings from her 20 matches. 

10. TRISH McKELVEY of New Zealand has captained the most number of Test matches. She has captained in 14 matches. Next in the list are RACHAEL HEYHOE-FLINT of England and SHANTHA RANGASWAMY of India. Both of them have captained in 12 test matches.
