Eccentrix Desk

Creativity is the language of the soul and there is no greater pain than having an untold story within you. So here we go, our writers open up their souls and bring out their best works for you to read and enjoy.

May 1st was a very special day for tamil cinema fans all over the world, it was the Iconic “Thala” Mr.Ajith Kumar’s birthday. He is one of the finest human beings and an exceptional actor to graze the screen in Indian cinema. But, as we all know he shares a very close relationship with the beauties on wheels- “ahem” I mean automobiles. This week, Nova has written about this special relationship in tribute to the special man. Happy Birthday thala!

Continuing the love/hormone talk from last week, N&N has given us a very beautifully written article about the dynamics of the mom-son and dad-daughter’s relationships. We all have gone through the ups and down of these relationships, but do we know all the intricacies about them? Unmask this week, has all the answers for you.

Psyche-Aware is back with an article that talks about the much-feared and frowned upon habit of all times, smoking and its harmful effects on our brain. It is far more complicated than one might think and is a definite read for everybody so that they can know what they are/ they might be getting into.

North Indian tours invariably have a package that consists of visiting the local palaces in Rajasthan and Jaipur. But, the Pink city is much much more. N&N describes the beauty of this city that she discovers on her day out in Jaipur. Dromomania this week, is a must read for everybody planning a tour to the northern part of our country.

Now that the election is winding down, the spotlight is back on th

e most-loved tournament of India - IPL.Vandhiyadevan brings you some quick stats about the game to keep your memory refreshed. Don’t forget to check Tragánisma Arithmoús.

Hope you like the work!

See you next week!

I think most writers would agree that maturity in writing can be defined in terms of what one choose to write on/about and how one actually articulates their thoughts on that subject. So, it is my own personal belief that this week Team Eccentrix has come up with an issue that shows how well they have matured as writers in these past few months.

Generally, when we talk about love, it is thought that it is the matter of the heart and is never meant to be what-you-call-it, disillusioned with logic. But there is so much more to this “affairs of the heart” than we actually know about it. So, N&N has set on a path to unmask all its dirty secrets along with its hidden treasures on this week’s absolutely scintillating Cover Story on “Unmask”. Check out to know whether you actually know yourself clearly.

Chennai Ponnu , for weeks on her column has been bringing you all the beautiful stuff about city life that urbanites like us just love. But, all coins have two sides don’t they ? This week she explores the city and its one nagging nuisance, the continuous “honk-honk” noise that actually threatens to make us all crazy. Check out her column to know more about this growing pain in the ahem-ear?

Kinitos is back with an excellent review on the latest hot smartphone from the Sony Mobiles, the Experia ULTRA T2. To know whether it is a worthy addition to the Experia Clan, check out what Vandhiyadevan has to say about it in Kinitos.

Rearview Mirror has been entertaining all you auto-maniacs by talking about the rides and the wheels of the most coveted Superheroes of all times. But hey, it is time for some futuristic talk. Don’t imagine robotics , but it is much simpler. This week Nova is writing about Fuel-cell Cars which promise to be the “in thing” pretty soon. Get to know all about it here, so that you can say “You liked fuel-cell cars before it was cool”!!

Last but in no way the least, how can we not have our Tragánisma Arithmoús column be about our very own Master-Blaster who had his birthday this week ? So, yeah to know all the teeny-tiny facts, about this great legend, check our weekly Cricket column by Vandhiyadevan. Team Eccentrix wishes paaji a very Happy Birthday.

Hope you enjoy reading this issue.

See you next week.

Adios!

India has the privilege of calling itself the largest democracy in the world. Additionally, demographically speaking it figures in the list of one of the youngest nations in the world. Incidentally, these two things are being brought together in this year’s Lok Sabha Elections. So, Team Eccentrix has decided to bring out an “Election Special Issue” to tell the people what exactly is happening in this year’s major event and also what the Gen X and Y feels about it .

The magazine has a collection of a very different set of articles this week. Generally, they say that youth of our country are not very responsible, and they don’t know much about politics nor are they interested. But, is that true? To find this out, Chennai Ponnu conducted a small survey for her column Nikipedia. I am sure the results of that survey is going to leave you all stumped.

Every time, we think election, we think the huge campaigns, hoardings, etc. Specially, this year all the candidates and the political parties pulled out all stops from giving advertisements centering the youth to launching their own theme songs. Wanna-be-Savant has investigated the motivation behind these tactics and their effect on the voting population in her column Psyche-Aware. Check it out to know more all the mind games.

Few years back, India replaced the ballot box with Electronic Voting Machine (EVM). With this machine, leaving a lot of aged voters stumped, Vandhiyadevan decided to do a piece on the machine so that the new voters can go in informed to the polling booths, and cast their vote without confusion. Information on this innovative piece of machinery is a must know for everybody in our nation.

This election, our campaigners have literally crossed all the constituencies umpteen times. Every week, key personalities were seen travelling to various parts of the country, campaigning, interacting with the public, holding meetings and what not. N&N this week, brings you a detailed account of their travels in the Dromomania Column.

This summer, is very special for India. First, T20 world cup, now elections and IPL , there is no shortage of important events happening around the country. Do you know that cricket and politics has always enjoyed a very close relationship in our country? To know more about the Cricketers who dabbled in the politics world, don’t forget to read Vandhiyadevan’s cricket column .

Vote India. Vote for Change and vote for yourself because remember, Democracy is “by the people, of the people and for the people”.

Lets join hands for a better future.

See you next week.

Adios!

“Tomorrow may be hell, but today was a good writing day, and on the good writing days nothing else matters.”
― Neil Gaiman

Actually nothing can better describe how the team of Eccentric works at all. Every week its us against a blank paper determined not to let that blank sheet win, determined to bring you a good solid piece of writing so that you get your time’s worth every time you click on our url.

As always, our writer Vandhiyadevan is continuing the record saga with some very interesting facts about our very favourite sport- Cricket. Next, continuing the mystical journey in our Dromomania Column we have a local Temple in Chennai featured by N&N. We are sure it is gonna be a treat yet again for all you auto-enthusiasts. This week on bookshelf is a book of a different genre that our writer “Wanna-be-Savant” feels is a must for everybody.  களம்  is gonna continue the expose on Namo while நெற்றிக்கண் this week is featuring the sensational verdict that left the country spinning, both by our writer வேனிற்கோ. Every writer needs a muse, his inspiration that kindles the fire in his soul and compels him to give words to the most abstract thoughts in one’s mind. This week at our magazine, we also found a muse – WOMEN! The team Eccentrix is paying their tribute to all the women in the world on International Women’s Day by celebrating their achievement in every sphere and bringing the spotlight on the ladies highly effectively!

Cricket, as a sport is a lot like our society, it is a male dominated arena. But, just like our society women have been chipping away the mountainous roadblocks put in front of them for decades to gain a foothold in this sport. To know more about these sporty women, check out Vandhiyadevan’s column on cricket stats, “Tragánisma Arithmoús“. I am sure you would be in total awe of these great women. Wanna-be-Savant this week is talking about all the female fiction writers, who made a difference in her life by penning down some great female characters. To know, who are the women who made it to the list, click on Bookshelf. Bike riding is a man’s passion, bike riders are almost synonymous with the male gender, but there is one lady who has claimed the sport of stunt bike riding for her through sheer grit and determination. You want to know who it is. Rearview mirror by Nova is going to be quenching your curiosity on that one. This week on “நெற்றிக்கண்”, we have an eye opening account of world affairs that concern women by “வேனிற்கோ“. Read that and you might actually want to leave this planet once and for all. Dromomania, this week is tracing the interesting connection between women and cooking. What is it that makes them such artists in the kitchen? Well, N&N has the answer for you. Chennai Ponnu, has gone full on with the theme by talking about the most influential women till now, who have broken all barriers of the society and achieved what they wanted from life.

We hope that we have done justice to womankind! We love them and salute them for their extraordinary contribution in making the world a better place to live!

See you next week!

Adios!
