Zealand set a new record of scoring the maximum percentage of runs for any team
when he scored 70% of his team’s total of 60 against Sri Lanka at Chittagong in
2014.
2. DENESH RAMDIN of
West Indies and KAMRAN AKMAL of
Pakistan share the record of maximum number of stumpings in a T20I game. Ramdin
made 4 stumpings against Pakistan at Mirpur in 2014 and Akmal made 4 against
Netherland at Lord’s in 2009.
3.NETHERLANDS’ run – rate of 13.95
while chasing 193/4 in 13.5 overs against Ireland is a world record in an
uninterrupted match. While considering interrupted matches, New Zealand
recorded 90/3 in 6 overs, which is exactly 15 rpo, against Scotland to overhaul
their score of 89/4 at The Oval in 2009.
4. SRI LANKA achieved an unusual
double record by dismissing teams for the lowest totals in this edition of the
World T20. They dismissed Netherlands for 39 which is the lowest by any
International team in T20 and when they dismissed New Zealand for 60 later on
in the tournament it became the lowest by a test playing nation in a T20I.
5. SRI LANKA has another double of
scoring the highest T20 score when they made 260/6 against Kenya in the 2007
edition and dismissing their opponents for the lowest total when they dismissed
Netherlands for 39 in the 2014 edition.
6. MAHELA JAYAWARDENE of Sri
Lanka has the most runs scored in World T20 with a tally of 1016 over the 5
editions.
7. VIRAT KOHLI of India has the
highest tally of runs in a single edition of the World T20 when he amassed a
tally of 319 in the 2014 edition eclipsing Tillakartane Dilshan’s record of 317
in 2009 and also averages the most in T20 with 72.00 over the two editions he
has figured in.
8. MS DHONI of India has captained
the most in World T20s. He has captained his team on 28 occasions in the World
Cup alone.
9. KUMAR SANGAKKARA and MAHELA JAYAWARDENE of Sri Lanka joined
Jehan Mubarak of Pakistan (2009) and Joginder Sharma of India (2007) by
featuring in their last T20 match in World T20 finals victory.
10. LASITH MALINGA of Sri
Lanka became the first bowler to captain his side to a World Cup win across all formats when he lead
Sri Lanka to the World T20 crown at Dhaka against India in the 2014 edition.
