Pondy bazaar,
Jam bazaar, Burma bazaar……………….on the line follows the MOP BAZAAR ! A bazaar
put up by the MOP Vaishnava college students in their college premises once in
every year, where the students themselves turn up to be the entrepreneurs. This
year it was on Feb 22 and 23.A place where various stalls of colourful bright
clothes, designer bags are found and drinks’ stalls where the dry throats were
quenched by gulping loads of juices on winning interesting games and many many more mad crazy games. Quick snap
places were the stalls accessories such as Malinga type colourful hair vig,
many kinds of toy glasses like frames of rifle gun, hearts , big round frames
which almost covered the whole face, feathery eye masks, wizard hat, charley
chaplin hat and so on were offered to public to try on..People wore accessories
of their own choice and posed for the pictures. In a minute they clicked,
printed, laminated and gave it. I would say
that this was the most attractive stall which caught the eyes of all the
young buds as they get to pose for the craziest picture and take home a piece
of memory for that day.
One of those stalls
which kept my eyes glued was the ART# ,which showcased various posters of the most
sort after football clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester united followed by the
F.R.I.E.N.D.S series posters, plenty of posters on Chennai buzz and also some
beautiful handmade bookmarks, greeting cards and bow type clips. The shop was
stuffed with all innovative and creative things in synch with the current
trend. Then I came across a stall which was quiet different from others with
its outer décor, being labeled as Tarot. And the interior of the room was never
the less; decorated with a great aesthetic sense lit with gentle, smooth,
aromatic candles which filled the space with its pleasant odour. At the centre
a young lady was seated in the disguise of a magician with dark eye shadows,
blood red long earrings and in complimenting attire. Tarot card reading
goes with a number of cards displayed
from which you will have to pick 3-6 cards and the magic girl will say about your
past, present and future happenings in life. Those cards were printed with scientific
symbols which she read and understood our life. Seriously ! She was so true
with each and every word that she spoke. I was totally flattered.
A bazaar without
food ?????????????????? No chance. AAh ! Here comes my most favorite section,
FOOD STALLS !!! It stimulates both your sense of smell and taste. Some of the
most interesting stalls were, Thallu Vandi-which served people with different
varieties of creative and simple snack made of chopped crispy onions and red
juicy tomatoes blended together with tangy, spicy, masala and cheese. This mix
is sandwitched between the bases of murukku, thatta and khakra. Just the mere
name of this stall was so catchy. Next
to Thallu Vandi was the Pasta corner. Cheese corn pasta was the best there. The
pastas were perfectly boiled in hot water to soft and spongy textured pasta. These
pastas were soaked in freshly prepared white sauce with sweet corn and a pinch
of black pepper was sprinkled on top of it. A spoon full of pasta with cheesy
white sause generated a mixture of sweet, sour and hot flavours inside the
mouth.Taste of pasta gave a complete feel. Next in the row was the dosa corner,
south Indian exclusive items, all kinds of parathas etc. A meal without a dessert
is incomplete. So yes, the chocolate room kept in store a lot of choco muffins,
cuppy cake, chocolate donut, choco chip biscuits and many others. The sweetness
of the chocolate just melted inside the throat.
It’s
always fun to go to a bazaar and explore all kinds of stalls in that hazzling
buzzling crowd. Its a great enjoyment and thrill. Not only to the customers but
also to the students who put up those stalls. It might have been a great
experience for them. Its a practical way of learning things yet in a fun manner.
All their talent and skills turned into money. The MOP BAZAAR triggered and
energized people’s ears with their rapid songs, their tongues and noses with
their yummy food. On the whole, it was a real treat to look at the dozens of
stalls. THE REAL FUN !!
